My name is Farrell Perks, I live in Wales, I’m 26 at the time of writing, have a history in Games Media, but I’m looking to branch into a topic I love – Politics.
Alongside this, I feel it’s important to mention that I’m disabled. I have a condition called Fibromyalgia. With that in mind, my views on health and social care may seem more understandable as they unfold.
I’ve looked around a lot online for a place to begin publishing my foray into British Politics, and I’ve landed on Substack as – in my opinion, the best place to do that. As for why I’m writing at all, well, I’m incredibly passionate about the political future of the country I live in, and the people in it. I intend to post once weekly, though with my health being considered, this may deviate somewhat.
My sincere hope, with this, is that I manage to influence people to – at the very least, look closer at their local or national politics. Influence people to consider their own needs through a political lens and, perhaps for the very first time, engage in the historical system that is the bedrock of democracy. At the very minimum, I would be content with having fostered any kind of conversation.
For what it’s worth, I don’t plan on throwing out confusing or frustrating terminology. I realised quite early on that a lot of people feel a disconnect with Politics. This is either as a consequence of or exacerbated by the fact that a lot of the language and terminology used in Political literature is, at times, needlessly confusing or vague. I hope to be able to be something of a change there, time will tell.
As a final note – I do not intend to take this paid. If a time comes in the future where this seems viable, I may consider a donation model or the likes – but these posts will always remain free for all.
